New Gallery Art Funds, established in 1989 in Moscow, specializes in Soviet art of Socialist
Realism of the 1920-50s. The Art Funds possesses the collection of Russian and
Soviet posters from 1880 to 1950s. This is one of the largest poster assemblage in Russia
among private collections (about 1000 depository units) |

I. Ruban studied at the K.P. Chemko Studio under D.N.Kardovsky tutelage between
1927 - 1929 and at I.E. Grabar Studio between 1930 - 1934. In 1930 he joined
the membership of "The VseKoKhudozhnik"
All-Russian Cooperative Association in Moscow. He graduated from
the Moscow State V.I. Surikov
Art Institute in 1942. He is a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR since 1942. The
title of a Honoured Worker of Culture of RSFSR has been confered on him in 1966;
a Distinguished Worker of Culture of USSR in 1988. He took an active part in
the All-Union and Republican art exhibitions beginning with 1934. Personal
exhibitions took place in Moscow, Leningrad, Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk since 1935. He
organized Folk Arts museums in Tiksi, Podtesov (on the Yenisej River), Kholmsk (Sakhalin Island). His paintings are
displayed in the collections of 30 Art and Area Studies museums and more,
including the State Tretyakov's Gallery, the State Russian Museum and also abroad.

В 1927-1929 годах учился в
Студии К.П.Чемко у Д.Н.Кардовского. В 1930-1934 годах - в мастерской
И.Э.Грабаря. В 1930 году принят в члены «Всекохудожника». В 1942 году окончил
Московский художественный институт. Член Союза художников СССР с 1942 года. В
1966 году получил звание «Заслуженный работник культуры РСФСР». В 1988 году
удостоен звания «Заслуженный деятель искусств СССР». С 1934 года принимает
активно участие во всесоюзных и других художественных выставках. С 1935 года проходят
его персональные выставки в Москве, Ленинграде, Вологде, Архангельске,
Мурманске. Основал народные художественные музеи в Тикси, Подтесове (на
Енисее), Холмске (Сахалин). Картины находятся в более чем 30 художественных и
краеведческих музеях страны и за рубежом, в т.ч. в ГРМ, ГТГ.
