B. Selensky studied at S.M. Zeidenberg's art studio in Leningrad (1925-1927) and
K.F.Yuon's art studio in Moscow (1930-1932); he studied
at the Moscow Art School (1932-1933, S.I. Frolov's
studio) and at the Moscow Art & Tech School
named after M.I. Kalinin (1933-1939, S.F. Nikolaev's studio). B. Zelensky is best known for his film poster
work. He made commercial posters, theatre and circus placards; he occupied
himself with political posters as well. He participated in exhibitions since
1948: a diploma of the International Posters Exhibition in Vienna (for the film
"Pirogov"); in 1957 - a diploma of the All-Union Books, Drawings and Posters
Exhibition (for the film "Othello"). As a book illustrator he collaborated with
"The Politizdat" and "The Molodaya Gvardiya" publishing houses. During the
1950s he worked on "The Ogonyok", "The Krokodile" and "The Sovetsky Tsirk" magazines
as a cartoonist. Beginning with the 1930s he devoted himself to industrial graphic
arts (labels, logotypes, etc.). His works have been widely exhibited abroad: London - 1934; Vienna - 1948; etc.
