In early 30s worked as an artist in Alexandrinsky Theatre in Leningrad.

In 1934 also worked as M.P.Bobyshev’s assistant in the workshop of theatre-scenery art in the Leningrad Academy of Art. He started his teaching career there. In 1964 he became the head of the workshop. Professor of painting.
