SHEGAL GRIGORY MIKHAILOVICH

1889 – 1956

 

Studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art before the 1917 Revolution , then moved to the city of Tula, where he worked in art studio and was the head of museum and art department in Provincial Dep. of People’s Education.

In 1929 entered the Higher Art & Tech Workshops (VKhUTEMAS) - Shevchenko’s workshop.

In 1912-1914 Shegal was a member of the Art Association in St. Petersburg.

1925 – member of the Association “Moscow Painters”

Member of Association of Russian Artists (AkhR), Moscow Artists Society (OMKh) and Russian Association of Proletarian Artists (RAPKh). .

Corresponding member of the Academy of Art.
