ZELENSKY BORIS ALEXANDROVICH

Petrograd, 1914 – Moscow, 1984

Studied at S.M.Zeidenberg’s art studio in Leningrad (1925-1927) and K.F.Yuon’s art studio in Moscow (1930-1932); studied at the Moscow Art School (1932-1933) at S.I.Frolov’s workshop and at the Moscow Art School named after M.I. Kalinin (1933-1939) at S.F.Nikolaev’s workshop.

Participated in exhibitions since 1948.

Zelensky B.A. is well known as the author of film posters.

  • 1948 – diploma of the International Posters Exhibition in Vienna (film “Pirogov”);
  • 1957 – diploma of the All-Union Book, Drawings and Posters Exhibition (film “Othello”);

Zelensky is the author of posters for theatrical and circus performances as well as political posters. He illustrated books for “Politizdat” and “Molodaya Gvardia” publishing houses. In 1950s worked as an artist in magazines “Ogonyok”, “Krokodil” and “Sovetskiy Tsirk”.

Since 1930s worked in the field of industrial drawings (labels, logotypes, etc.)

Works of the artist were exhibited abroad: London – 1934; Vienna – 1948; etc.
